My step counter notified that I walked more during my pregnancy than after delivery: around 3,000 steps a day. I should add up on buggy walks. So, yesterday I have finally reached 10,000 steps. Yahooo! It took me stolling around the Central Park and Eco Park. My legs were dead though… but felt good! I am not a jogging type. So, I prefer just quick walk. Who's with me next time?*
Many women are eager to get back to their shape after delivering a baby. How and when would I fit into my favorite jeans?! The easiest way is to take a walk or run with a stroller. And there so many benefits for your mental and phisical health! I was recommended to start intensive sports in 6 weeks after natural delivery. However, after checking out from hospital we started by short walks together with Daddy despite it was the beginnig of winter. Good quality bonding experience for us, the new parents. Surely, with time passing our walks became longer in distance and time.
I can name you 10 benefits of buggy walk or running:
two rabits with 1 shot: both you and baby get fresh air plus you exercise
the extra weight of buggy creates resistance and pushing it adds 20% calories burn
workout encreases as baby grows (due to his/her weight)
it's your mental health go-to that is included in the list in prevention of post-partum depression
psychological satisfaction that you are taking The action to loose baby weight and fat gained during pregnancy
we get more endorphines (hormones of happiness) from exercising outdoors than indoors
you teach your baby the importance of regular exercise from early age
it's quality time together with your baby and/or partner
social interaction and peer support: get a buggy walker/runner buddy
it's for free and you can take a buggy walk/run anytime (with safety precautions)
And don't be afraid of the weather conditions. We go for a walk regardless of the season as every weather has its own beauty: wind, sunny day, light rain or snow.
Get your babies on stroller and the older children on their bikes and hit the walking/running!
Stay healthy.
