It is indeed a common misconception that female lawyers are married to their careers. I can also be married to a man (laughing). Family is my No.1 priority. However, I believe that women need to be empowered. Therefore, I will be starting webinars "New You: Confident&Daring!" Watch out for news!
I was asked recently to give a picture that represents my professional identity. So, here’s how I see it: nothing special, typical female lawyer (smiling). This photo was taken in front of the Palais des Nations, United Nations Office in Geneva (Switzerland) on my way to a session of the UN Human Rights Council. Actually, it was my first day after a year of sabbatical break upon the completion of my last mission (UN rapid response deployment to the Protection Cluster of the Humanitarian Team Ukraine).
Generally, it’s the look of my usual working day. A bottle of water or coffee in my hand and my fitness bag. Not so high heels with flats in my purse to change later on. I prefer sleeveless office dress with a jacket to pants suit. This outfit is feminine and functional. It shows that I don’t need to look like a man to have a strong voice at the boarding table. It makes my moves elegant and soft. Very comfortable if I feel overheated due to stress or actual hot weather or air in the room. The dress transforms into a cocktail outfit for after-work receptions when don’t have time to get changed at home or even in the office (sometimes, when needed to change to an evening dress).
Phisically fit and energised. My fitness bag indicates that my workout is a must. Especially when I have too much to do! It can take just 1 hour at my lunch break (learned from the Swiss working culture). Always wearing functional and fashionable eyewear. Usually, it's my chameleon diopter glasses that get darker from the natural light and turn transparent indoors. In my other hand is my favorite bag for paperwork and laptop that has integrated charger cables for my phone (considerate gift from the modest Qatar delegation).
That is just a begining... Watch out for news and join me at my empowering webinars "New You: Confident&Daring!" coming soon...
Go, go, girl! You can do it! I did.
